The Cheriton Players

The Show must go on!

Well it can safely be said that our production of An Inspector Calls created a couple of first: the first complete sell-out so far in advance of opening night; the first time we have appeared in interview on radio (Breeze Sat 7th Dec) – and this can also be heard on Audioboo; and finally the first time in 51 years that a serious sickness has forced one of actors to stand down halfway through a run. Tracey Anderson, who played Sheila Birling so admirably on the first two nights was struck down with a nasty virus on the penultimate day and, with less than 30 minutes notice, newcomer Rebecca Leadley, who up til then had had half a dozen lines, stepped into the costume and read in the part beautifully. Thank you so much Rebecca, and our best wishes to Tracey for a speedy recovery. Another possible first is that Jan Conway, our producer, stepped into Rebecca’s role as Edna, the maid. Thanks, Jan! Accolades have been coming aplenty, and none more so to date than Winchester Today’s fab online review. Pics and reports will be coming to our Past Productions page very soon. Meanwhile, we wish you all a very Happy Christmas.
