Clerical Errors

Playwright Georgina Reid Director Tim Day

Overview

A bitter sweet comedy about a homeless family and how they affect a Methodist Minister

Originally produced in 1985, Clerical Errors is a comedy with a dark side. Centred around a homeless family who have broken into a disused Methodist Chapel, the Minister of the Chapel sees a side of himself he never thought existed when confronted with the bizarre behaviour and unorthodox lifestyle of the Briggs family.

Coming immediately after the Players’ 50th anniversary production Alice, this bitter-sweet comedy was a complete contrast and introduced Thea Arnott in her debut performance with the Players as the daughter Julie, whilst Angela Ledsham, normally in the prompt corner, made an entrance as the indomitable Gran.
