The Cheriton Players

10 June 2015 - 13 June 2015

Third Week in August

Playwright Peter Gordon Director Pauline Cornter

Overview

Our second outdoor production ever, this hugely popular comedy by Peter Gordon, set in a run-down campsite, played to packed audiences in the grounds of The Flower Pots Inn. Meet Neville, the camper you would most definitely NOT want to park your caravan next door to, plus a load of other dysfunctional characters.

Producer: Jan Conway
Stage Managers: Tim Day, Angela Ledsham

Cast:
Sue – Leanne Lacey
Neville – David Cradduck
Mary – Helena Gomm
Liz – Sally Williams
Tony – Charlie Hellard
Jenny – Rebecca Leadley

What fun we had with this, our second outdoor performance. Unlike the first one in 2011 when we staged Alice in the grounds of Cheriton Cottage, we had a small cast, power on hand and a small cast of six rather than 25! We also had a barbecue and the audience were under cover, although as it turns out we didn’t experience any rain except on dress rehearsal night (but we were incredibly lucky).

We were also lucky enough to have Peter Gordon, the author, along with his wife Janice, in the audience on the last night and they were both extremely complimentary about the production, especially the ‘nailing’ of his characters.

The production called on a huge number of people who gave of their time, expertise and facilities willingly and jpined in with the spirit of the whole show. They are too many to thank in writing, but they know who they are and to them we say a huge THANK YOU.

At time of writing we have received two reviews – one from Eleanor Marsden for Winchester Today and the other from Rebecca Case of the Daily Echo Curtain Call Awards. More to follow.

A thoroughly successful and enjoyable production all round.
